ADSL

Asymmetric Dialer Subscriber Line (ADSL) is a system that utilises telephone lines to deliver much higher data speeds than a normal modem. While ADSL uses standard telephone lines modifications need to be made at both the telephone exchange and at the subscriber's end of the telephone connection.

ADSL performance is dependent on line quality and a distance to the exchange. Also not all telephone exchanges support it. To find out whether ADSL is available at your location you need to check with Telecom New Zealand. Telecom call their ADSL service "Jetstream".
